WeTransfer phishing attempt

Computing Services is aware of a phishing attempt that occurred between 8am and 9am on Wednesday 27th May 2020.

While the attempt was targeted at a number of University email accounts, mostly within CSD, our security team quickly and successfully blocked the attempt from reaching any further University members.

The phishing email in question appeared to come from file-sharing website WeTransfer, asking the recipient to sign in to "retrieve some files".

When users click on the link provided, they are taken to a page which looks like a Microsoft sign-in page, but in fact it is a page designed to steal your University credentials.

Please note: always look at the URL (link) in the address bar of a page before typing in any usernames and passwords.

Any users who may have received this email or clicked on any links within it are asked to change their MWS password immediately.
