Overview

Book clubs are for book lovers – University of Liverpool's Continuing Education album club is for people who love popular music and would like to talk about it. Are you passionate about music? If so, why not connect and share ideas around your favourite music by joining the Album Club, where you can interact with like-minded others? Each session focuses on a classic rock or pop album where there will be an introduction to provide a context. This will be followed by opportunities for listening and discussion. 

Syllabus

The course aims to foster a community of popular music lovers who discuss and share their thoughts on a selected album, promoting intellectual stimulation, social interaction, and a love for listening and discussion. The album club offers a space for personal growth, encouraging deeper engagement with popular music while enhancing communication skills. 

Please note that the ‘last date available to book’ date is only a guide. We reserve the right to close bookings earlier.

In order to avoid disappointment, please be sure enrol as soon as possible. Registrations will not be processed until the following day if received after 3pm. 

Course Lecturer: Georgina Gregory

Georgina Gregory has a background in media and cultural studies with a particular focus on popular music studies and art and design history. She has many years of experience designing and delivering courses at various universities including UCLAN, Salford, Staffordshire and Manchester Metropolitan. Georgina's publications include "Send in the Clones: A Cultural Study of the Tribute Band" (2012), "Boy Bands and the Performance of Pop Masculinity" (2019), "Exploring the Spiritual in Popular Music: Beatified Beats"(2021).
