Introduction to Creative Writing

Monday, 7 - 9pm

Start Date

29 September, 2025

There will be 10 weekly meetings on Monday, 7 - 9pm, starting from 29 September.

Overview

Where do I start? How do I start? What if I try but I’m no good at it? Answer these questions and overcome your fears with this course designed for brand-new writers and those with little experience. Even if you haven’t written much more than an email since school, a professional novelist will guide you in discovering your own unique voice and give you the essential tools to turn your ideas into thought-provoking pieces. You will work on what is holding you back, whether it is terror of the blank page, the harsh voice of the inner critic or the inability to make yourself just sit down and write.

This course will enable you to find inspiration, develop useful habits and harness your imagination in new ways.

You will undertake a variety of writing exercises that will fuel your creativity and read from works of literature that enthuse you. You will become confident in sharing your writing with others in a warm and supportive atmosphere and learn that everyone has something interesting to say. Whatever your writing aims are, this is the perfect place for you to begin.
