We are pleased to announce that Careers & Employability are now accepting proposals for the Government Kickstart Scheme 2021. This year the internship scheme will form part of the national incentive created to address the predicted impact on youth unemployment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In partnership with the Growth Company, Careers & Employability are utilising UK government Kickstart Scheme grant funding to create 50 new 6-month placement opportunities across the institution, with start dates anticipated for July and August 2021.

Kickstart Scheme vacancies are available to Universal Credit claimants aged 16 to 24 who are considered at risk of long-term unemployment by their Work Coach; this could include graduates and non-graduates. All Kickstart participants will receive enhanced employability support that will help them to secure long-term employment or further study as the Liverpool City Region recovers from the impacts of COVID-19.

The scheme is funded by the UK Government, with all placement employees being paid the National Minimum Wage for their contracted hours, throughout their placement.

We have previously delivered our own Kick-Start scheme, with interns working on projects including:

  • Clinical Lab Intern
  • Data Analyst
  • Events and Communications Officer
  • Researcher
  • Finance Intern
  • Health and Safety Assistant
  • Flight Simulator Intern
  • System and Process Analysis

Look out for the roles being advertised via Handshake over the coming months, and if you have any questions, please contact Jessica Sanders by email to jsanders@liverpool.ac.uk.
