How did you hear about your role and why did you decide to apply for it?
I heard about the opportunity through a family friend who had worked for the company for many years.
How did you get to where you are now?
With a little bit of luck—and by being open and honest about the kind of person I am—I was able to approach this new industry by acknowledging my lack of prior experience, while demonstrating a strong willingness to learn and apply both the knowledge gained from my undergraduate degree and the many transferable skills it provided.
Your favourite experience as part of your current role?
Being part of a global team and getting to meet a plethora of people from different sectors within the industry and many people from different nations on a day-to-day basis.
The most challenging part of your graduate journey?
Realising that everything slows down once you finish university and coming to terms with the end of my education for now.
What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?
When searching for a job, if you’re not fixed on a particular role, it’s worth exploring what’s out there. While many roles are widely known, there are countless others that people rarely hear about. Without the guidance of someone I knew, I would never have considered the role I’m in now - I hadn’t even heard of it before. In today’s tough job market, discovering an unexpected opportunity that allows you to apply your skills in new and surprising ways can be a welcome shift, opening doors to experiences you may never have anticipated.
