Stepping Away: Priya

Posted on: 21 October 2025 by Richard Finch in Class of 2024

Meet Priya, a Class of 2024 Politics graduate who is currently undertaking a Law Conversion Course with the University of Law.

How did you hear about your role?

I always knew I wanted to a career in the legal field and I am deeply interested in politics, so the law conversion course allowed me to get the qualifications I needed after doing a degree I had a passion for.

How did you get to where you are now?

I took part in a Head Start Scheme with DLA Piper, where I had a mentor who directed me on my path to law and helped with the application processes for training contracts.

They also offered me in-house work experience to understand and explore the legal industry before doing a postgraduate study in it.

Your favourite experience?

The different people you meet at postgraduate level as well as the ability to utilise your degree practically with pro bono opportunities.

The most challenging part of your graduate journey?

The most challenging part would be straight after graduation where everything felt a bit daunting as everyone is on different paths.

What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?

For future grads, the advice I wish I had was don't be too hard on yourself. The job market is hard but just keep pushing and take every opportunity you can get even - If you don't think you'd like it, it may surprise you.

Graduate Outcomes Survey

The Graduate Outcomes survey exists to improve the experience of future students. All graduates are asked to share their perspectives 15 months after they finish their course, to build a national picture that UK universities and colleges use to innovate their services. League tables, Prospects and The Complete University Guide use our Graduate Outcomes data to help students make decisions about their future.
