Progress to Postgrad: Gabriel

Posted on: 26 August 2025 by Richard Finch in Class of 2024

Gabriel Blake, a Class of 2024 Mathematics graduate, shares his journey in Progressing to Postgrad: My Path to Further Study.

How did you hear about your course?

I always wanted to become an Actuary, and after completing my Mathematics degree in Liverpool, I chose Queens University Belfast as it offered the best course for my future career goals.

How did you get to where you are now?

Just applied online, proved I had archived a min of 2:1 in degree. Application process was relatively straightforward.

Your favourite thing about your current course?

Good city, smaller course. It has been nice get a good feel of what it’s like living in Belfast.

The most challenging part of your graduate journey?

Living away and having to fly back and forth between England and Belfast.

Could you share one tip you wish you knew before you started

Start everything early! Application, job searching all of it. I was able to land an internship before my master’s because I applied early. They offered me a job, so I didn’t need to worry about applying whilst studying.

Graduate Outcomes Survey

The Graduate Outcomes survey exists to improve the experience of future students. All graduates are asked to share their perspectives 15 months after they finish their course, to build a national picture that UK universities and colleges use to innovate their services. League tables, Prospects and The Complete University Guide use our Graduate Outcomes data to help students make decisions about their future.
