Progress to Postgrad: Ayrton
Posted on: 15 September 2025 by Richard Finch in Class of 2024

Ayrton Joshi graduated in 2024 with a BA in Urban Planning and is now studying for an MSc in Real Estate at Henley Business School, University of Reading.
How did you hear about your course?
I've known that I wanted to do a Master's degree prior to joining The University of Liverpool, so it is something that I had researched for a while. I knew some of the Universities and courses I wanted to apply for, so this made my final year less stressful. In terms of why, I think my Masters degree is more aligned with my long-term career aspirations and is RICS accredited.
How did you get to where you are now?
My journey from graduating last July, to now coming to the end of my Master's degree has been shaped by a mix of key decisions, valuable experiences, and strong support. Choosing the University of Liverpool was a pivotal step and throughout my time here, I made the most out of every opportunity which helped me grow both professionally and personally. I have been lucky enough to have taken part in work experiences and internships which confirmed my desire to pursue a career in real estate, and reaffirmed my decision to do a Masters. I’ve been lucky to have incredible support from my friends and family, who always gave encouragement and believed in me, especially during challenging moments. What’s kept me going is my strong passion and desire to achieve my goals.
Your favourite thing about your current course?
My favourite experience of my current course would be my trip to Lisbon with the university for a case study where I learnt so much about a different real estate market, as well as making great memories with my mates.
The most challenging part of your graduate journey?
I think there are two most challenging parts of my graduate journey. The first would be facing rejection in my job applications. I couldn't tell you how many jobs I've applied for and have been rejected from, but each one provided me with lessons to take away and apply to the next. I stayed resilient and always kept going and my hard work has now paid off! Secondly, the change from undergraduate life in Liverpool, to being a postgrad student at home was massive. I really missed my Liverpool life of living with friends in a city I love, but I learnt to appreciate what I've been fortunate enough to have had, and to look forward optimistically to new chapters in my life.
