How did you hear about your role?
I applied via LinkedIn for my role.
How did you get to where you are now?
During university, I sought out work experience to explore the communications and media industry. I spent a few weeks in Brussels with Euro News, where I helped write news articles and shadowed correspondents on feature stories. This gave me a clear view of the fast-paced media world. I also did marketing work at a school in my hometown, creating blog posts and Instagram content and supporting promotional campaigns. These experiences confirmed my passion for creative communication and motivated me to pursue a career in this field.
Your favourite experience as part of your current role?
One of my favourite parts of my current role is creating email campaigns and working with my team to launch online campaigns, including brand collaborations and seasonal sales. I really enjoy the creative freedom I have when designing promotional assets that go out on the website and in emails. Coming up with engaging taglines and seeing the final campaign go live is always really rewarding. It’s great to see ideas come to life and resonate with our audience.
The most challenging part of your graduate journey?
One of the most challenging parts of my graduate journey was navigating the job application process and stepping into the professional world for the first time. It was quite overwhelming at times constantly tailoring applications and preparing for interviews. There’s a lot of pressure to secure a job quickly and transitioning from university to full-time work came with a steep learning curve. But through the process, I became more resilient and gained a clearer understanding of what I want from my career.
What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?
Apply for the opportunity even if you don’t feel completely ready. It’s easy to talk yourself out of applying for a role just because you don’t tick every single box on the job description. I’ve learned that a willingness to learn, adapt and grow on the job can be just as valuable as having experience. Some of the best opportunities I’ve had come have from simply putting myself forward, even when I wasn’t sure I was qualified enough.
