Posted on: 28 October 2025 by Richard Finch in Class of 2024

Morgan is a Class of 2024 Law with a Year Abroad graduate who now works at Eaton Smith Solicitors as a Paralegal (Family Law).

How did you hear about your role?

I saw the job advertised online and through a recruiter I was able to get an interview and ultimately the job!

How did you get to where you are now?

I used my degree as an opportunity to learn about a variety of areas of law. This allowed me to go into interviews confidently knowing that family law was something I was particularly interested in. I took part in the law clinic module. It was extremely beneficial in familiarising myself with the structure and systems that I use today (i.e. time recording, the system we use for files). Secondly, it allowed me to understand the application of the law and how this is translated into the real world.  Ultimately, it was my friends and family who supported me as I navigated post-university and job searching- they were crucial in keeping me motivated and confident in myself.

Your favourite experience as part of your current role?

Working in the family department, I have had the opportunity to interact with a variety of clients and provide assistance to them in their crucial times. Additionally, the people I have met this far in my short time working at the firm who have made me feel welcomed and supported.

The most challenging part of your graduate journey?

Maintaining my confidence and knowing that things take time and I will not know everything right away, but I am excited for the journey.

What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?

If you are struggling pinpointing exactly what area of law to pursue, do a variety of courses! This will help you have a better understanding of what is the best fit for you, but also create an overall better understanding of the legal system itself.
