I Got Hired: Maya
Posted on: 18 November 2025 by Richard Finch in Class of 2024
Maya is a Class of 2024 LLB Law graduate who now works as a Paralegal at Brabners LLP.
How did you hear about your role?
I enjoy my role a lot as I am really able to learn and throw myself into challenges. I have been able to do my own advocacy representing clients in hearings, volunteer for initiatives that I am passionate about, get involved in sports and continue to write blogs and articles about recent developments in law.
How did you get where you are now?
I had the opportunity to take part in work experiences with different firms right after my graduation. This ranges from employment, family, civil litigation and public law to banking, commercial litigation and real estate law. I found getting to grips with many different areas allowed me to figure out which area I was most passionate about.

The most challenging part of your graduate journey?
The most challenging part of my journey was actually landing a role. Law is becoming increasingly challenging to break into, especially for a woman with a diverse background.
What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?
Keep persevering, you will get there when the time is right for you. Just because you want something doesn’t mean the time is always right. It’ll happen to you when you’re most ready for it and your effort and passion will always pay off.
