Max graduated with a degree in Computer Science with Software Development with a Year in Industry and now works as a Software Engineer at BAE Systems.
How did you hear about your role?
I completed a placement year with the company in Edinburgh. I decided to apply for the role as I had heard new starters were thrown into the deep end (certainly true), and it was a brilliant company to work for. After extending the placement for a further two months, I was offered a full-time role.
How did you get to where you are now?
Ensuring I was fully prepared for the interview process and hard work throughout my degree, allowing me to prepare for the challenges of real-world problems, and apply the knowledge learnt. Motivated to do the best I can to give myself the best chance of furthering my career.
Your favourite experience as part of your current role?
The best experience of my current role is receiving an impact award from the company for creating and developing an automated system, drastically speeding up development, thereby saving the company tens of thousands of pounds.
The most challenging part of your graduate journey?
The graduate journey has been relatively smooth so far, with nothing that stands out.
What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?
Work as hard as you can in your degree and be open to new experiences, never saying no to something new or different. The experience may change your outlook for the better!
