I Got Hired: Luke
Posted on: 29 September 2025 by Richard Finch in Class of 2024

Luke is a BSc Physics graduate, who is now working at Noise Consultants Ltd, part of Logika Group as an Assistant Consultant.
How did you hear about your role?
In my final year of my degree, I undertook more sound focused modules such as "The Physics of Sound and Music" and my undergraduate project of "The Physics of Electric Guitar Tone". I really enjoyed completing these which, shortly after graduating, prompted me to look into careers involving sound and acoustics that used the skills my degree gave to me. This then led me to discover acoustic consultancy, where I then spent a great deal of time researching reputable and innovative companies in the North-West that I thought would be a mutual fit.
My research resulted in spotting the organisation Noise Consultants with offices around the UK including Warrington. I further researched via their website and other sources and realised this would be an exciting opportunity, whereby I then sent a detailed covering letter and CV to them.
How did you get to where you are now?
I was contacted soon after submitting my application and was asked to have an informal chat on Teams with two of the directors.
Following that I was swiftly invited to have an in person interview at the Warrington office where I met some of the team - subsequently resulting in me receiving a job offer shortly before my graduation!
Your favourite experience as part of your current role?
I think my favourite aspect has been being given the chance to use my skills to come up with solutions working on high-profile and interesting projects and has been very rewarding working alongside talented co-workers!
The most challenging part of your graduate journey?
With this being my first "real" job, diving into this with no experience of the private sector or the nuances of having a full-time job (whilst learning work specific skills) resulted in a very steep learning curve for the first few months after starting.
What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?
Be confident in your own abilities and skills when going into an interview - and treat it with the respect it deserves! However scary you may think the interview or the job will be, it's nowhere near as bad as you imagine it.
