I Got Hired: Joshua
Posted on: 22 November 2025 by Richard Finch in Class of 2024
Josh is a Class of 2024 BEng Aerospace Engineering graduate who now works at Energus, sponsored by Great British Energy Nuclear as a Nuclear Graduate (Strategy).
How did you hear about your role?
I first heard about the Nuclear Graduates programme on Gradcracker, having decided to step away from engineering and wanting to go into the Project Management or Business Development sectors, I decided to apply as I was aware of the civil nuclear renaissance. I applied for the Project Management role and was offered a role in the Strategy team which I am now working in!
How did you get where you are now?
Having graduated in July 2024 with a bachelor’s in aerospace engineering, I decided to further my education by completing a few Project Management qualifications which greatly developed my confidence stepping into a new field. I am thankful to the School of Engineering and UoL Careers & Employability teams for supporting my progression throughout my time at the university.
Your favourite experience as part of your current role?
In my current role, I have the opportunity to work across the entire company, engaging with Heads of Departments and also our sponsoring government department, DESNZ which is really exciting. At the moment, I am leading a research paper which will be used to advise DESNZ for the next 25 years; and supporting the Business Planning and Reporting across the company!
The most challenging part of your graduate journey?
The hardest challenge of my graduate journey was being my motivation high when receiving rejection emails. At the moment, the job market is really difficult but there will be a perfect job out there for you! Just need to keep going!
What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?
Don't worry if you ever feel like an imposter in a new professional environment - this is also known as 'Imposter Syndrome'. Everyone has been there at some point, so don't be terrified to make mistakes, that’s how you learn at the end of the day!

The Graduate Outcomes survey exists to improve the experience of future students. All graduates are asked to share their perspectives 15 months after they finish their course, to build a national picture that UK universities and colleges use to innovate their services. League tables, Prospects and The Complete University Guide use our Graduate Outcomes data to help students make decisions about their future.
