I Got Hired: Hassan

Posted on: 25 September 2025 by Richard Finch in Class of 2024

Hassan graduated in our Class of 2024 with a BSc Mathematics and Computer degree. He now works as Graduate Technology Analyst at Barclays.

How did you hear about your role?

In my second year at university, while applying for internships, I came across the Technology Analyst Internship at Barclays. It stood out to me as the perfect intersection between technology and business—two areas I’m passionate about. I completed the internship and was fortunate to receive a return offer, which confirmed that this was the right path for me.

How did you get to where you are now?

Reaching this point has involved a lot of self-learning and stepping outside my comfort zone. Engaging in networking and mentoring sessions can be mentally draining at times, but they’re incredibly rewarding. These opportunities allowed me to expand my network, gain insights from others, and grow both personally and professionally.

Your favourite experience as part of your current role?

One of my favourite aspects of my current role is consistently getting the chance to work on interesting and meaningful projects. Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with various colleagues across teams and contribute to projects that deliver real value in different ways.

The most challenging part of your graduate journey?

One of the biggest challenges has been avoiding the trap of falling into a routine. It’s easy to get comfortable and stop pushing yourself. However, I’ve learned the importance of always thinking about the next step and seeking new ways to grow—even when things are going well.

What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?

You’re not expected to know everything from day one—and that’s okay. Sometimes, admitting “I don’t know” and taking a step back to learn is more valuable than pretending you do. Also, communicate clearly, especially if a deadline might not be achievable. Strong communication builds trust and ensures everyone is aligned.

Graduate Outcomes Survey

The Graduate Outcomes survey exists to improve the experience of future students. All graduates are asked to share their perspectives 15 months after they finish their course, to build a national picture that UK universities and colleges use to innovate their services. League tables, Prospects and The Complete University Guide use our Graduate Outcomes data to help students make decisions about their future.
