I Got Hired: Emma

Posted on: 28 August 2025 by Richard Finch in Class of 2024

Emma Broughton is a Class of 2024 Biological Sciences graduate, now working at Novartis as an Oncology Key Account Manager.

How did you hear about your role?

I heard about my role through LinkedIn. I wanted to get into the pharmacology industry and had applied to lots of different roles.

This role seemed perfect from the get-go in a disease area I am passionate about. I had heard the company itself is a brilliant company to work at for multiple different reasons, and I thought this would be an incredible experience for me to start my career. The interview process was enjoyable, and I managed to land the job!

How did you get to where you are now?

I shadowed a key account manager multiple times to gain an understanding of the role. I also took part in a Pfizer molecule to market virtual work experience whilst at university.

Your favourite experience as part of your current role?

My favourite part of my role so far is getting to make a difference to patients' lives whilst working in a team that is so passionate and inspiring.

The most challenging part of your graduate journey?

Getting rejections from jobs in the early days with no feedback about why was really tough.

What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?

Keep on going - everyone says it but it’s so true, the right job will come up at the right time.
