Posted on: 27 November 2025 by Richard Finch in Class of 2024
Daniel is a Class of 2024 MChem Medicinal Chemistry with Pharmacology graduate who now works at Alfred H Knight International Ltd as a Graduate Outsourcing Chemist.
How did you hear about your role?
Applied for General Chemistry Graduate Program - was unsuccessful. Received a follow-up phone call two weeks later offering my current position if I was interested – was interviewed the following day and was offered the position.
How did you get where you are now?
GMaking a lasting impression within the initial interview, even though it was unsuccessful, the hiring manager said it would be a shame if I was not to join the company, so they offered me a different position. Also having friends within university who plan on going into similar fields, allows you to help each other with CV and interview preparation as well as job hunting.
Your favourite experience as part of your current role?
The opportunity to travel. Through outsourcing, I have to chance to visit places in the world I would never normally get to experience.
The most challenging part of your graduate journey?
Job hunting. You have to be able to make yourself stand out, there are thousands of graduates in the same position as you, you need to show you deserve what you are applying for.
What's your #1 piece of advice for future grads?
Make the most of networking and contact information. Use recruiters to help build your contact network. Who you know can sometimes be more vital than what you know, and even if it is someone new, make sure you leave a lasting impression.
