Progressing to Postgrad: Hannah

Posted on: 25 October 2023 by Richard Finch in Graduate stories

Hannah Schofield-Lea is a Class of 2022 History graduate, now studying for an MRes at the University of Huddersfield.

After completing my undergraduate degree I wanted to move home, and I wanted to explore academia.

To get where I am now took lots of pestering and volunteering, and also a large amount of luck. Setting up my own exhibition at the Colne Valley Museum, and participating in a community led festival ran by WOVEN in Kirklees helped me on my journey.

The most challenging part of studying has been having to juggle career progression whilst completing my masters.

My advice to students:

1. Talk to industry professionals, they can really help with career progression and can put you forward for opportunities.

2. Try every opportunity you can get your hands on!

3. Keep doing what you enjoy, never lose your passion.
