My Internship Experience: Zoe
Posted on: 3 September 2025 by Richard Finch in Student experiences

Business Management student Zoe Roberts has just wrapped up an incredible summer - moving to London and completing a Marketing Internship with the Global Markets EMEA team at Expedia Group.
We spoke to Zoe to find out how she’d got on, and this is what she said:
“I’ve learnt so much this summer and it’s really confirmed my passion for a career in marketing.
At the end of the internship I presented the project I’d been working on all summer to my team. The project involved creating a Social Media Strategy for EMEA how we can boost brand awareness and connect with Gen Z.
My Social Media Strategy Project included researching social media habits across different regions and age groups, and showing why EMEA needs a personalised approach. It involved collaborating with stakeholders, influencer & ambassador, as well as the organic social teams to understand current social media strategy.
A key focus was explaining the future business potential of Gen Z, and how to capture them as customers via social media -whilst providing realistic and actionable recommendations including enhancing the EG Ambassador Program and launching a new and improved UCG Programme.
And then finally, presenting findings to senior team members, including documentation including all resources to help put my recommendations into action. Working on my project from start to finish and sharing it in my final week was definitely a proud moment!
Outside of the project, I also got hands-on experience with the social media team - meeting with an EG ambassador/influencer, and even helping out with content creation by assisting with filming a TikTok video for Hotels.com.
The highlight for me was definitely the culture at Expedia Group - everyone was so friendly! I really enjoyed getting involved in the EG community, meeting so many new people, and making new friends!
I’m so grateful for this opportunity and will really miss Expedia! Excited to take all the skills and experiences I’ve gained into whatever comes next!”
