Liverpool Intern: Aaron

Posted on: 14 August 2025 by Richard Finch in Student experiences

Aaron Hancock gained valuable industry experience through the Liverpool Interns programme, completing a summer 2025 internship with Clan Contracting. We asked Aaron to share his experience.

Clan Contracting are structural repair specialists working on concrete and masonry repairs, heritage restoration, structural investigations and refurbishment projects.

As an architecture student who decided not to pursue architecture as a profession, I was keen to gain experience in a commercial role within the construction industry. This internship felt like the perfect opportunity to explore the business and management side of the built environment.

What I have enjoyed most is the variety of work I have been involved in. Every day has been different, from visiting sites to observe structural repairs to assisting with planning and project processes in the office. Shadowing the Managing Director has been particularly valuable, offering direct insight into how the company is run and how teams and projects are managed.

This experience has greatly improved my confidence in a professional environment and allowed me to build strong relationships across the business.

The Liverpool Interns programme has given me the chance to explore a new career path and develop my commercial awareness, confirming my interest in pursuing a business-focused role within the construction sector.
