I Got Hired: Trainee Solicitor at Napthens LLP

Alex graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2019 with an LLB Law degree and is currently working as a secondary trainee solicitor at Napthens Solicitors
.

What made you want to apply for this opportunity?

After graduation I went on to study the legal practice course so it was really important for me to obtain a training contract in order to qualify as a solicitor.

The Napthens training programme had proved really successful in nurturing trainees to develop their essential skills and their confidence, and there was a real focus on ensuring that trainees got a lot of client contact and responsibility from the early stages, which really appealed to me.

How have you settled into your new role?

Everybody is really supportive, encouraging and motivate trainees to fulfil their potential. There is no sense of hierarchy and trainees are encouraged to get involved in high quality work, any additional training events and networking opportunities. I feel comfortable to ask questions and I feel that the team really sets aside time to ensure that I have a varied and manageable workload and there is a real team atmosphere.

What do you enjoy most?

The most exciting part of the role for me is the ability to engage with clients so I have been able to deal with clients independently, listen to their problems and have input in formulating solutions. I also really like the fast-paced nature of the role so cases are always progressing and changing so there can be last minute hearings in meetings which can completely change the course of the day.

Why would you encourage other students to consider an opportunity similar to this?

I would encourage other students hoping to qualify as a solicitor to apply for this opportunity, if you are looking to train somewhere really supportive and to learn from experienced and talented solicitors, who have a real focus on your career progression and your growth.
