Len Shayler is a MA International Relations & Security graduate now working as a Junior Project Manager at Grayce, consulting at the Co-op.

How did you get to where you are now?

I met a friend back in May, when I was nearing the completion of my masters. He mentioned his new job and said they had roles matching the sector I wanted to go into and he could refer me for a role. I followed up on this, got an interview and managed to land the role!

What has been your best experience as part of your role?

Being allowed to ask questions and learn, with no environment ever feeling unwelcoming. This allows me to become better myself, whilst also producing good work.

What has been the most challenging part of your graduate journey?

Getting to grips with certain technical information and processes.

What are your top tips for other students and graduates?

  • Be proactive in searching for roles.
  • Open your mind to various sectors.
  • Take a dive in the deep end. Discomfort brings great possibilities and results.
