Congratulations to Haniyeh Mohammadpourkarbasi for being awarded the degree of Doctor in Philosophy in May 2015. Haniyeh’s doctoral thesis was entitled ‘The eco-refurbishment of a 19th century terraced house – energy, carbon and cost performance for current and future UK climates’. Haniyeh’s research used monitored results, dynamic thermal modelling and climate change datasets to investigate the current and future performance of a 19th century, solid wall end-terraced house in Liverpool. The house had been refurbished to a near Passivhaus standard and was included in the UK governments Retrofit for the Future programme. Haniyeh is now working with Beverley Clifton Morris Ltd in Manchester as a low carbon quantity surveyor in a Knowledge Transfer Partnership project.
