Facilities

The University of Liverpool has state-of-the-art clinical simulation facilities and traditional study environments that are designed to support students in all aspects of their academic journeys. At the School of Allied Health Professions and Nursing, we're extremely proud of the practical learning environments that we have recently developed for students from all of our programmes to make use of.

The Florence Nightingale Suite was transformed from classroom spaces to a sophisticated clinical simulation environment in 2021.

The Suite is fitted with extremely realistic reproductions of fully functioning hospital wards which mimic those used in the NHS, and it is home to all of the specialist equipment students will encounter in a professional capacity on placement or post-graduation.

Used by a number of our allied health programmes, the area is also home to observation and assessment rooms which enable the use of scenario-based learning techniques as well as simulated general professional environments which are utilised by Occupational Therapy and Mental Health Nursing students for risk assessment exercises.

The Rose Thompson Suite is the School's newest simulation facility, completed in 2024 for the benefit of our Diagnostic Radiography and Therapeutic Radiography and Oncology students.

The space is equipped with a state-of-the-art CT scanner and X-ray machines which mirror those used in practice. The equipment allows our students to consolidate their clinical knowledge in controlled environments under the tutelage of academic staff before they go out on placement and care for patients in a range of professional healthcare scenarios.
