Support over Holiday Closure Period

Most University services and departments are closed for the holiday period from 5pm on Friday 19 December 2025 until 9am on Monday 5 January 2026. This page explains where you can get help while the University is closed.

Need urgent help?

  • If you or someone else is at immediate risk of serious harm or injury, call emergency services on 999, or go to your nearest Accident and Emergency (A&E) department.
  •  
  • If you are in the Liverpool area and need immediate support for significant mental health difficulties, call the Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust Crisis Line on 0800 145 6570.

University support 

  • If you are on campus and need immediate assistance or feel unsafe, call Campus Support on 0151 794 2222.
  •  
  • If you are staying in University halls, you can get help and advice from your halls staff.
  •  
  • You can contact Health Assured, a free and confidential advice line (24 hours a day, 365 days a year). Call 0800 028 3766.

External support 

  • The Liverpool Light (walk-in mental health crisis support), 181–185 London Road, Liverpool, L3 8JG. Open 6pm to 1am. You do not need an appointment.
  •  
  • PAPYRUS HOPELINEUK (for people under 35): call 0800 068 4141 (9am to midnight, every day).
  •  
  • Shout (free, confidential text support): text SHOUT to 85258.
  •  
  • Samaritans (24 hours a day): call 116 123 (free).
  •  
  • SAFE Place Merseyside (Sexual Assault Referral Centre): support for anyone who has experienced sexual assault (recently or in the past). You can search for services in other UK areas if you are not in Merseyside.
  •  
  • If you are ill, contact your GP, visit a walk-in centre or pharmacy. You can also use NHS 111 online or call 111 if it is not an emergency.

Non-urgent support
