Diagnostic Assessment Fund

Are you considering or undergoing a diagnostic assessment for a neurodivergent condition and need financial support? A formal diagnosis can unlock access to tailored academic support, reasonable adjustments, and funding such as Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA).

What is it?

The Diagnostic Assessment Fund provides up to £250 reimbursement towards the cost of a diagnostic assessment for students who suspect they may be neurodivergent (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD, autism, etc.).

Eligibility criteria 

  • Registered University of Liverpool student
  • Full or part-time undergraduate and postgraduate students, where the course is a minimum of one academic year’s length
  • Go Higher students & foundation year students
  • Assessment must be undertaken at least 6 weeks before the end of studies and no earlier than 3 months before starting at the University
  • One assessment claim per student
  • Students who are studying online with partners are not eligible to apply.

How does it work?

  • You arrange and pay for your assessment
  • Submit your receipt and a short online application form
  • We’ll reimburse up to £250 of the cost.

How to access a loan

If you're unable to afford the upfront cost of a diagnostic assessment, you may be eligible to apply for a loan through the University’s Money Advice and Guidance (MAG) team.

  • Contact the Money team to discuss your situation
  • If eligible, you’ll be asked to provide recent bank statements
  • If your available funds are below the threshold, a loan can be issued to help cover the assessment cost.

Diagnostic Assessment Fund application window

The fund is now closed for applications relating to the academic year 2025/6.  It is due to reopen in early October 2026. 

Application dates for the new academic year (2026/7) will be published here before the start of the new term.
