Student Administration and Support Division

Student Administration and Support Division (SAS) is part of Student Experience and Enhancement.

The Division is responsible for a wide variety of activities relating to student administrative and academic processes including student records, examinations and graduation, and student support services including health and welfare.



SAS organise and coordinate University examinations and assessements including timetabling, invigilation, production and distribution of exam papers, and releasing results.

SAS are responsible for arrangements and administration of the University's graduation ceremonies which take place annually each July and December.

Timetabling Team


SAS manage Online Room Bookings and Integrated Timetabling (formally known as ORBIT) to coordinate timetabling across the University.

The LDC Student Experience Team, deal with all enquiries relating to administration and regulations of research degree programmes, Annual Progress Monitoring, Suspensions and Extensions and Research Council funding.

Student Records


The University's student record/information system is known as SPIDER. The University keeps all necessary student information on the SPIDER system. All data and its usage are handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act. SAS are responsible for the management and mainenance of the SPIDER system.

Student Administration


SAS handle the efficient administration of all students' personal, academic and financial records, and staff in the Student Administration Centre assist with in-person enquiries from students from registration through assessment to graduation, as well as student discipline, complaints and appeals.

Student Fees Office


 The Student Fees Office is responsible for raising and collecting all student fees including tuition fees and accommodation charges, as well as any other fees (such as field trips, and nursery fees).

Student Support Services


Student Support Services provide students with advice, support and information, particularly with financial issues, (Financial Support Team) disability, (Disability Support Team) advice and support to international students (International Support Team) and welfare issues (Student Support Assistant).

The University Counselling Service and Mental Health Advisory Service offer staff and students the opportunity to think and talk about concerns through dialogue with a trained counsellor.
