I graduated from the São Paulo State University (UNESP) in 2010 with a BSc in Nutrition. I undertook an MSc in the Graduate Programme in Pathophysiology in Internal Medicine at UNESP.
Currently, I am a PhD student at the same Graduate Programme (UNESP) and my project aims to identify the myocardial proteins that are differently expressed between obese with cardiac dysfunction and healthy rats using proteomic approach. The results will reveal changes in the heart proteome associated with Western diet-induced obesity, providing insights to better understand the mechanisms involved in heart disease. I carried out the proteomic study using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE)-based method.
Recently, I have gained an International Fellowship from São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) to do a research internship at the Centre for Proteome Research (CPR). I am now looking forward to joining the CPR as a visiting student in October 2017. I will perform a label-free quantitative shotgun proteomics analysis in the rat heart, in order to complement my PhD project.
