Synposis

"Following a 1st class Honours degree in Animal Science from the University of Leeds I qualified as a veterinary surgeon from The Royal Veterinary College in 1995. I undertook an internship at Glasgow Vet School which was followed by a period working in industry for a cattle genetics company. Following the arrival of 2 children and after setting up a veterinary practice in North Wales with my husband ( which at the moment consists of a tier 1 small animal hospital, 2 branch surgeries and an equine ambulatory service) I undertook a Wellcome Veterinary Research Fellowship (entry level) MPhil at the University of Liverpool School of Veterinary Sciences investigating the effect of hypersomolar loading on SOX9 in equine and human chondrocytes. In 2009 I began a Wellcome Veterinary Integrated Research Fellowship at the University of Liverpool. the project title is "The use of QconCAT to absolutely quantify the equine cartilage degradome in age and osteoarthritis."
