The Universities Business Challenge (UBC) is a simulation-based business competition, giving students the opportunity to improve their knowledge of the business world, develop employability skills, expand their professional networks and have a lot of fun!

Running in three rounds from November to March, UBC gets students to adopt the role of board of directors in a series of realistic, simulated companies, making critical business decisions that affect performance.

Considering the financial profile of the company, as well as its responsibilities to important stakeholders and sustainability goals are all key as students compete to achieve maximum profit, acquire new markets and enhance stakeholder ratings.

At the end of each financial year, the balance sheets for all companies are made available so teams can see how they are measuring up to the competition.

Four teams represented the Management School for 2024/25, made up of students studying International Management, Accounting and Finance, Business Management, Economics and Business Economics.

Of the four teams, one progressed to the grand final, doing so in style with a win in the semi-final round. The finalist team, made up of International Management students Archie Little, Zakaira Nawaz, Tom MacKenzie-Betty and Economics student Dylan Southern, finished in a top 10 position overall.

We are incredibly proud of the performance all students gave in this prestigious competition!
