BA Business Management students reach the summit

On Thursday 11 April some of our second year BA Business Management students travelled to Snowdonia, with a team of staff from the Management School. The group stayed in YHA Snowdon Pen-y-Pass on Thursday evening, getting a much-needed rest in ahead of their adventure to the summit of Mount Snowdon the following morning.

This trip was organised by staff within the school, with help from brilliant current students Eviee TordoffRhea Chen and Will Rees.

On the day of the climb the group were led by official outdoor guides and walked 14.5km (with a challenging 3199- foot ascent), all whilst battling 50+ mph winds! It was a real achievement for all to complete.

We caught up with Deputy Director of Studies for our BA Business Management programme Dr Martyn Bradley, who had this to say about the experience;

“A massive congratulations to our second year BA Business Management students who last week successfully ascended Snowdon - the highest peak in Wales! Many of our students had never climbed a mountain before so to do this with them was legitimately inspiring and a privilege.”

Martyn was joined by fellow academic colleagues in the school, members of our fantastic student experience and employability teams.

Will Rees, who was involved in the planning of this trip commented;

“The Snowdon trip was great, and I made great new friends easily due to the challenges we all had to overcome and help each other with.”

Rhea Hongyu Chen, one of the students on the trip noted;

“This journey was challenging but amazing! I was very grateful for the support and encouragement from my friends, Dr. Martyn Bradley and our guide along the way. Although the weather was not ideal when we started the climb, the skies cleared on the way down, allowing us to see the beauty of Snowdonia.  Giving up is easy, but perseverance is definitely cool!”
