Dr Jennifer Davies on air with BBC Radio Merseyside
Recently, Dr Jennifer Davies, Deputy Director of Studies for MSc Project Management, was invited to be a guest on the BBC Radio Merseyside show BBC Introducing, hosted by David Monks.
Jennifer discussed her research which focuses on the impact of blockchain and artificial intelligence in the music industry. She explained how blockchain technology can have implications across the music industry, including changing the way we stream music and how important it is for the music industry to embrace new technology.
Jennifer also presented her new music project Tarns, which is inspired by her research into our relationships with technology and performed two tracks live acoustically on the show, including her song Icarus, which is based on the pursuit of artificial intelligence and the potential future implications of this technology.
She explained the meaning behind her naming of the project and how this connects the project to her research. Independently published by her own label, STUDIIO, Jennifer’s debut single ‘Make Me Brand New’ was released last month.
Jennifer has been active in the Liverpool music scene for many years, having completed an undergraduate degree in music at the University of Liverpool and being signed to Universal Records, prior to joining the Management School.
Her band HAARM have soundtracked a number of TV shows across streaming platforms and also Premier League Football coverage. Jennifer was also recently featured on a billboard in Liverpool City Centre as part of the city’s Eurovision celebrations.
