The Entrepreneurs' Monthly Meet-up is a University HEIF-funded initiative run by the Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship in collaboration with six colleges and universities in the Liverpool City Region.  Its aim is to connect entrepreneurial students/graduates and expose individuals to the very best independent businesses in the city.

The Entrepreneurs’ Monthly Meet-up runs eight times across the academic year (October-May) and with the January event running in collaboration with the newly re-launched Entrepreneurship Society within the University of Liverpool.

The University of Liverpool Entrepreneurship Society is focused on pushing students to step into entrepreneurship and start their own ventures as the society aims to equip participants with all the necessary knowledge and support to build sustainable businesses through events, training and workshops.

This month’s meet-up ran on Thursday 26 January in Liverpool Science Park and focused on manufacturing and tech with a jam-packed line up of speakers. Over 40 students and graduates participated in the event and eagerly listened to the society president, Talal Ahmad, speak about the society’s re-launch. Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) representatives, Bea Howarth and Abbie Romano, also kindly spoke to attendees about their sector in Liverpool and available support to manufacture-based businesses.

In addition to this Andy Kent, CEO of Angel Solutions, spoke to individuals about starting up and running that successful ed-tech business in his circus-themed office in the Science Park. Finally, individuals also listened to Lotte Manson and Matthew Nightingale speak about setting up and running the onsite coffee shop Land Coffee; who kindly provided participants with refreshments and food across the meet-up itself.

Finally, the event culminated in a prize draw for a student or graduate to win a 6-month free co-working space in Liverpool Science Park. A big thanks go to George Barclay of Sciontec Liverpool for pulling the winner (Georgi Tonchev) out of the hat!  Thanks also goes to Elizabeth Farrington and Remi Smith of Sciontec (as well as George Barclay again) for all the support to host a successful January Entrepreneurs Monthly Meet-up in Liverpool Science Park.

The February Entrepreneurs Monthly Meet-up is being held in the Athenaeum in central Liverpool on Thursday 23 February from 5pm-7pm. Register your free place here.
