In November 2022, both Management School Liverpool MBA and Football Industries MBA students took part in a consultancy challenge designed to enable students to apply what they had been taught in the classroom to a real-life situation.

In what is understood to be an industry first, the Management School partnered with Peel Ports back in April 2022 as a way to improve innovation, inform teaching and employability initiatives and more. As part of the newly created partnership, the Consultancy Challenge came as part of the MBA module titled ‘Marketing and Supply Chain Management’ which was developed in collaboration with Peel Ports to help MBA students develop their MACRO and PESTLE environmental analytical skills.

The challenge was launched by Peel Ports and students were split into groups where they were given the objective to deliver futuristic solutions to the organisation based on an analysis of current scenarios. At the presentation event at The Brett Building, each group presented their solutions and their findings were evaluated by senior executives James Riddick, Hamzin Hadziabdzic and Mark Hunter.

The challenge was enthusiastically approached by students who cherished the experience but only one group could be crowned champions which was Group 2: Zain Shaffi, Esther Adegbesimola Adegoke, Sarah Faiz, Ruslan Nasibov and Saga Tumkar. While only one team won the experience, all teams benefited from the challenge and were able to develop a number of skills which bodes well for their assessed work.
