The University of Liverpool Management School recently hosted a conference exploring the intersection of research and policy in modern slavery and supply chains.

The event took place over 12 and 13 September 2022 and was held at the Tate Gallery in the historic Albert Dock complex at Liverpool’s waterfront.

The conference opened with a keynote address from Dame Sara Thornton, the outgoing Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, on Reflections of the role of research in policy and future directions.

Delegates also heard from leading academics in the field, including Professor Andrew Crane, Professor Steve New and Professor Alex Trautrims.

In addition to sessions on research and policy, the event incorporated a practice perspective with presentations from Pamela Zielinski from Stronger Together, and a presentation from Professor Alex Trautrims on the new British Standard BS 25700:2022 Organizational responses to modern slavery guidance ahead of its release at the end of the month.

Feedback from the event was excellent and Professor Andrew Crane has volunteered to host next year with a view to it becoming an annual event.
