Liverpool students reach final of The Pitch competition

Three 2nd year Marketing students from University of Liverpool Management School reached the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Pitch Competition final.

Students Lucy Stone, Ruby Boast & Katie Ball presented their ideas to a panel of judges which included: 

  • James Farmer- Head of Brand and Marketing Communications at CIM
  • Gemma Butler- Marketing Director, CIM
  • Karen Boswell- Chief Transformation Officer, The Pharm
  • Karen Dowse- SVP, EMEA Commercial, Mintel
  • Pete Markey- Chief Marketing Officer, Boots UK
  • Lucy Reynolds- Vice President and Director of Communications, CSR and Sustainability, Boots UK

This year the brief entailed leveraging Boots relationship with the Prince’s Trust. The ULMS finalists called ‘The Three Marketeers’ beat around 50 universities to make it to the top 10 in the final, narrowly missing out to the University of Strathclyde.

Dr Ahmed Al-Abdin (Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Director of Studies for BA Marketing) who mentored the students commented:

“We are the delighted by the achievements of ‘The Three Marketeers’ in reaching the CIM Pitch final. The team were outstanding, demonstrated great professionalism and a plethora of well-focussed and creative ideas that the panel of judging were very impressed with.

“Through this opportunity, students were able to develop hallmark skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, adaptability and many others. They have done themselves (and us] proud by making it to the final ahead of 50 other universities.

“Lucy, Ruby and Katie are just a few of our many talented students who have realises the value of taking part in extracurricular opportunities. Indeed, all three have secured placements with Disney and Numberly respectively”.
