In February, the Belfast Telegraph released Northern Ireland’s 30 under 30 list showcasing the country’s best business minds under the age of 30. Here at the Management School, we are pleased to share that current 3rd year Business Management student, India Sasha Atkinson, has been placed on the list alongside 29 other young entrepreneurs.

India is a Belfast social media star and disability advocate who has amassed over 450K followers on TikTok and 37.8K followers on Instagram since posting her first disability-based video back in April 2020. Born with a rare congenital hand defect called Symbrachydactyly, India has no fingers on her left hand and has since created her successful brand based on an idea she had when struggling with her own acceptance of her body and disability.

As a final year full-time student, India is proud to share that her main inspiration for her achievements were attained from her various experiences at her time at University of Liverpool Management School. India’s growing brand is all about fulfilling the demand for inclusive marketing through ways of normalising disability in all areas of society that she has access to.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, India is a self-proclaimed "CEO of One-Handed Humour" and has always wanted to be her own boss. With her social media following continuing to grow, India has worked and collaborated with brands such as L’Oréal, Rimmel London, Boohoo, Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s and Amazon through social media content creation, modelling, presenting and public speaking. This is in addition to currently working alongside TikTok as part of their creator programme having achieved recognition for her contribution to education on the platform.

As India began making videos to address common misconceptions about her disability using humour, she believes that the best way to get people talking about something they were previously afraid to talk about is to use comedy. In India’s interview with the Belfast Telegraph, she says beyond monetary goals she has always wanted to achieve something bigger and claims that she never would have imagined that TikTok was going to be that key component to kickstarting her entrepreneurial career.
