Miyo Tamashiro-Rizo alumni talk

As part of the BA Marketing programme’s welcome activities, Miyoshi (Miyo) Tamashiro-Rizo (Class of 2021) delivered a talk to first year students.

Whilst studying at the Management School, Miyo was course rep (two years in a row), leader of the Marketing society and Marketing Coordinator at the Guild. She also completed several Internships and whilst attending a final year online guest lecture (delivered by Dawn Paine, Aurora Creative Agency-based in Liverpool), Miyo was the only one brave enough to put her camera on. Dawn was impressed and subsequently invited Miyo for a job at her marketing agency as a Graduate Marketing Executive.

During her talk, Miyo shared insight to her University experience and spoke about how she secured her graduate role. She emphasised to students the importance of stepping outside of their comfort zone and networking with others, giving excellent examples of how doing this benefitted her.

Dr Ahmed Al-Abdin, Director of Studies BA Marketing, said “Miyo is a fantastic marketing graduate and it was incredibly nice to welcome her back to ULMS. Miyo wowed the students with all her University experiences and words of wisdom.

“Miyo epitomises the hallmark graduate and students really appreciated hearing Miyo's insights, especially the importance of engaging with the course and stepping outside one's own comfort zone, extracurricular activities, making connections and developing 'brand you'.”
