The Management School has pledged to provide two scholarships for its Football Industries MBA (FIMBA) as part of Women in Football’s #GetOnside campaign.

#GetOnside aims to improve the landscape for women and girls in the game.  Recent research found that four out of five Women in Football (WIF) members want to see more gender diversity in boardrooms and 71% want more support for the development of women in leadership roles. By offering two scholarships exclusively to female FIMBA students, the Management School hopes to help address these issues and encourage more women to take up management roles off the pitch.

Dr Babatunde Buraimo, FIMBA Director of Studies, said “We are delighted to support this campaign and are committed to ensuring we do what we can to increase access to women aiming to work in executive positions in football. Along with Women in Football, who are working tirelessly on this, we hope that in years to come, it’s an issue that’s no longer a discussion because access and opportunities are widely available to female candidates.”

To apply for the programme, applicants must have three years’ substantive managerial experience in the public or private sector and will hold a 2:1 honours degree in any discipline from a UK university (or an equivalent professional qualification from a non-UK university).  Non-graduates who possess extensive professional experience (more than 5 years) and/or a postgraduate qualification are encouraged to apply.

Applications open on Monday 4 October. No separate application is needed for the scholarship as all candidates are considered once they have an offer.

Women in Football is inviting other organisations and individuals to join the campaign by taking one action that will contribute to an improvement for women and girls in football. Premier League clubs, governing bodies and media are just some example of the organisations that have already pledged their support. Find out more.
