Business Breakfast Briefing: Understanding Growth

Organised in partnership with the North West Business Leadership Team, the Management School’s latest Business Breakfast Briefing took place on Thursday 24th October.

Attendees, consisting of representatives from a number of local businesses, were able to find out more about the key drivers of national and international economic growth and some of the key influencing factors.

Professor Jozef Konings, Professor of Economics at the Management School, gave insight into research that has been carried out on productivity and growth in different countries.  He explored factors that influence this, such as competition and regulation, as well as outlining the common components of successful high growth organisations.

Providing a practical application was the second guest speaker of the event; Richard Carter, Chair of the North West Business Leadership Team and Managing Director of BASF UK.  Richard discussed the type of innovations BASF UK has implemented in recent years and the benefits these have had on productivity.

Hazel Kennedy, Business Development Officer, commented “Our Business Breakfast on the theme of Understanding Growth generated lots of engagement and discussion between our business guests and our academic- and industry speakers, something we are always keen to encourage.

Thanks go to the NWBLT for partnering with us on this event and also to all our contributors and guests.”
