Master's students attend business festival at Sensor City

Management School master’s students were invited to attend Level Up!, an entrepreneurial and digital skills business festival, at Sensor City on Wednesday 1st May.

The event was organised in partnership with The Extraordinary Club and involved digital skills training, talks from entrepreneurs and panel discussions with creative and digital pioneers. There was also a networking session to allow students to develop and build upon their professional network in this area.

Calum Smith, Master in Management student, has been carrying out a work experience with The Extraordinary Club and helped to organise the event.  He commented "Level Up was a brilliant opportunity for ULMS master’s students to get a taste of how valuable digital skills will be to them as they move into their future careers. We saw, in the AI module created by Facebook, how AI will be making approximately 7 million jobs redundant in the UK alone. That statistic really shows how necessary it is for students to familiarise themselves with AI, automation, web presence and social media marketing.

More so, the event gave students the opportunity to see some of the exciting work being done in Liverpool by our digital and creative SMEs. We also saw how as ULMS students, we have particular skills sets that SME’s would want to help their companies reach the next level. Many of these organisations in attendance expressed interest in having ULMS students work or intern for them.

During our networking session students had the opportunity to speak directly with SME founders, learn from their experiences and exchange emails. In this respect, the event was truly invaluable for students that attended. I myself found the event rewarding and thought-provoking."
