Students attend assessment centre simulation at Anfield

On Tuesday 26th March, first year undergraduate students attended an assessment centre simulation as part of the placement preparation module.

During the assessment centre, which took place at Liverpool Football Club, participants were required to take part in a group exercise to test their ability to work with others, as well as a presentation which tested their individual skills.  The aim of the simulation was to make students feel more comfortable when attending this type of thing in the future, helping to increase their chances of being successful.

Prior to the event students attended a number of workshops, delivered by staff from the University’s careers team, which helped to identify what to expect at an assessment day, how to prepare and how to stand out.

Chris Barlow, Lecturer in Accounting and Finance, commented “Students performed incredibly well and the feedback from the assessors was all positive with how well prepared and polite the students were.

There are some areas for development but hopefully that can be addressed by students prior to the real thing.”
