The University of Liverpool Management School recently hosted a two day workshop which looked at the use of social media in Operations and Supply Chain Management.

Over 70 delegates from around the world attended the event which included various presentations and breakout sessions. Guest speakers comprised of the Editor-in-Chief and guest editor of International Journal of Operations and Production Management (IJOPM; ABS 4-rated journal) as well as social media researchers from around the world, including a number of outstanding researchers whose social media papers have been published in FT50 business journals.

As well as the opportunity to meet other researchers in this emerging research area, attendees were also able to seek advice from the guest editors of an upcoming special issue by IJOPM.

Hugo Lam, Senior Lecturer in Operations Management, commented “We received many positive comments from attendees of this workshop.  We hope it will go on to help build a stronger research community in this emerging research area and encourage more special issue workshops in operations management, in general and IJOPM in particular.”
