Football Industries MBA students visit UEFA headquarters

Football Industries MBA (FIMBA) students recently had the opportunity to visit the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

The UEFA visit is an annual occurrence for the FIMBA programme and allows students to gain insight into one of football’s leading governing bodies.  As well as presentations on topics including; UEFA’s structure; the organisation of UEFA competitions; club licensing and financial fair play, the day also included a simulation learning exercise.

The simulation exercise gave a better understanding of the different venue roles at a UEFA Champions League game and the decision making that takes place between the key functions at a football match.  The tasks required good co-ordination and communication, helping to develop students' skills in these areas.

Boris, Koryagin, FIMBA student, commented “The cohort enjoyed the trip and we were pleased to be warmly welcomed by UEFA headquarters representatives and some FIMBA alumni.

The trip tied in well with the programme curriculum by simulating all the actual challenges and insights represented in the football industry.

Visits like this are really beneficial as they give an understanding of the strategic side of European football, how it is going to look in the future and people’s profiles inside a high level organisation.”
