Undergraduate students take part in Digital Skills sessions

A number of undergraduate students from across the programmes have been taking part in the Management School’s Digital Skills sessions.

Following on from the success of the ‘Sales and Selling’ workshops in semester one, ‘Digital Marketing’ is the second subject in the Business Skills Series which looks to address skills gaps identified by recruiters.  The course runs for five weeks and provides students with hands on experience of search engine optimisation (SEO), pay per click advertising, social media strategy, data analytics and more.

The sessions are hosted by two industry practitioners, Heather de Groot and Jack Dotchin, who have both worked for large marketing agencies and within corporate marketing departments.  They bring a wealth of experience about the skills and techniques currently in demand by employers.

Lee Wainwright, Employability Projects Officer, commented “From surveying students at the end of the previous Business Skills Series, Digital Marketing proved a very popular subject area for our second instalment.  Once again we approached local leading small business professionals to put together a bespoke 5 week course, covering the broad range of skills and knowledge employers are looking for at interviews.

The sessions have been great for students to get hands on with strategy, software and to gain actual experience of the skill sets.  Jack and Heather who host the sessions have brought high levels of enthusiasm and a sense of real world application to a detailed and fast paced industry sector.”
