Management School staff were invited to attend the next Learning and Teaching seminar on Wednesday 9th January.

The session was led by Victoria McCall and Ahmed Al-Abdin, winners of the British Academy of Management Early Career Teaching Practitioner Award 2018.  The pair shared best practices from their research on creating a more positive student experience though the use of innovative teaching techniques to enhance motivation and engagement.

During their study, Victoria and Ahmed created an online blended learning environment for a final year undergraduate module in response to student feedback which identified a need for innovative learning environments.  They also used music, post-lecture café sessions and other innovative techniques to increase engagement and ultimately improve the student experience.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness of the innovative practices that are currently being used around the School and encourage other academic staff to think more creatively about their approach to teaching.

Victoria commented, “We really enjoyed running the ULMS Learning and Teaching seminar and it provided a great opportunity to share our experience and findings with other staff.  Everyone was so welcoming and enthusiastic, and it raised some interesting questions and debates that we hope to look into further as we continue with our research and practice in this area.”
