Finance students at The University of Liverpool in London campus have been taking part in training and real-world simulation events that aim to improve their future employability in the financial services sector. The MSc Finance and Investment Management and MSc Banking and Finance programmes focus on both theory and application.

The most recent event was a live interactive business simulation called “Run the Bank”, delivered by MDA Training. In the live event, students got to experience what the balance sheet impact is of different core operations within a bank, including corporate and investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, asset and wealth management, and global markets”. The students competed against each other in teams with an aim to reach a return of investment of 10%.

Students commented that they found the session useful because:  “it gave me a more practical and broad view of how different departments in banks work.”

In the overwhelmingly positive feedback, the consensus from students was that the event was “fun, exciting, and most importantly, useful to learn how to run a bank.”

The programme and events such as these are designed to provide students with the practical experience required in the modern finance, investment and banking industries. As one student commented, “I can see my future through this event”.
