Management School student nominated for Nottingham Post Women in Business Award

A Management School undergraduate student has been nominated for an award at this year’s Nottingham Post’s Women in Business Awards.

Sandy Gill, who is in her final year of a Business Economics degree, has been nominated in the Rising Star category after launching her own property investment firm earlier this year.

The company is named Pablo Gill, after Sandy’s father, and offers property management, sales and education.  It operates as a membership based company with different levels to suit individual goals in both personal and financial life.  Membership then gives access to training, workshops and investment pools to allow people to achieve financial and personal prosperity.

Sandy, who has been juggling running a business alongside her university studies, said “You underestimate how much work is actually required to get a good grade at University.  I am aiming for a first so that requires extra reading and keeping on top of coursework.

It can be very challenging but I always make sure I keep aside some hours in the day for studying and for my business.

There is a lot of support in the University for startups.  Attending the ULMS Extra sessions in first year and second year was really useful as it motivated me to see what other students are doing since they graduated."

After completing her degree, Sandy is planning to continue working on her business whilst studying a part time master’s in real estate.  This will allow her to gain the skills and knowledge required to become an expert in the field.

The awards will be judged by an independent judging panel and announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday 15th November.
