Liverpool MBA graduate reaches finals of National Business Awards

MBA graduate, Emma Jarvis, has reached the finals of The MPower National Business Awards, celebrating parents throughout the UK who manage the difficult task of juggling business with family life.

During her pregnancy, Emma was disappointed with the lack of products and information available so came up with the idea of Dearbump, a monthly subscription box similar to Birchbox but dedicated to mums-to-be.  The contents of the boxes are chosen specifically for each stage of the pregnancy and include advice, information and links to resources which some women might not otherwise have access to.

After graduating in December 2017, Emma joined forces with friend and fellow mum, Hannah, and the business was launched in April.  Since then Emma has also recruited the help of fellow MBA gradautes, Gabriela Desiderio and Nadiia Bisyk, to help grow the business further.  Gabriela is working on digital marketing for Dearbump whilst Nadiia is helping to develop a financial model.

Emma said “We have only recently launched so it’s incredible to be recognised on a national level. We partner with some amazing brands to bring the best products and advice on the market for pregnancy directly to our customers”

Emma has been shortlisted for the Mpower awards self-belief category which is all about how there are many moments in business when the odds seem stacked against us. However somewhere deep within our soul we believe in ourselves, our mission, and our journey. This belief allows us to generate the resilience and perseverance to keep putting one foot in front of the other and never giving up.

As well as being shortlisted for this category, Emma is also in with a chance of winning the title of Mpower Woman of The Year 2018, which will be awarded to the mum who is an inspiration to all women in business, and could walk away with a fantastic prize.  The winners will be announced at The Mpower Gala, being held at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury in London, by a panel of top parent entrepreneurs.
