MSc HRM students visit The Contact Company

Students from the MSc Human Resource Management programme recently visited The Contact Company as part of the ‘Human Resource Management: Academic and Practitioner Perspectives’ module.

The Contact Company works with various organisations to address their customer contact needs, maintain high levels of customer service and implement time-saving strategies.  The visit was a good opportunity for students to view a company from the inside and learn about the challenges and opportunities it faces.

Students also spent time with Catherine Miles, Head of Project Management, and were able to ask questions about how the organisation operates.  They were given a guided tour of the building to hear about how the different teams work differently with various clients.

Melissa Hewitt, MSc HRM students, said “I had a great visit at the Contact Company. Seeing how the theoretical knowledge we learn on the course is applied in a real business shed a lot of light on the expectations of HR in the workplace. It is a great opportunity to see first-hand some of the practical limitations that inhibit the idealistic outcomes of theory.”
